The weather in Croatia is representative Mediterranean and Continental and offers pleasurable holidays throughout the year – although there are several variations within those clime zones.
North Croatia has a continental clime; Central Croatia features a semi-highland and highland climate, while the Croatian sea-coast has a Mediterranean climate.
Wintertime temperatures range from -1 to 3°C (30°F -37°F ) in the continental region, -5 to 0°C (23°F -32°F ) in the mountain region and 5 to 10°C (41°F -50°F ) in the coastal area.
Summer temperatures run from 22 to 26°C (72°F-79°F) in the continental area, 15 to 20°C (59°F -68°F ) in the mountain area and 25 to 35°C (77°F -95°F ) in the coastal area.
Sea temperatures reaches up to 28° C (83°F) in the summertime period and in winter is in average 12°C (54°F ).
The hottest calendar months are July and August when the air temperature is between 29°C and 35°C (84°F – 95°F) and the sea temperature reaches up to 28° C (83°F).
June and September are as well very warm months with average temperatures around 25°C-30°C (77°F-86°F) and the sea surface temps between 20° C and 25°C (68°F – 77°F). The rain is rare.
April, May and October expect temperature between 15°C and 25°C (59°F – 77°F) and the sea temperature between 16 and 21°C (61-70°F). This is a period of time with more rain and windy days but it actually counts on the atmospheric condition and opportunities are that you’ll experience more fair weather in the south Adriatic.
The most pleasant time of year for sailing in Croatia is early summer with superb winds in May and June mainly from the S/SE. Dawns lean to be calm with the wind increasing later in the afternoon to about 15 – 20 knots. The months of July and August assure quieter conditions which is OK for those who don’t mind motoring.
