Looking ace on the beach: Jennifer Capriati continues her recovery after 'accidental overdose'

Capriati looked relaxed in white bikini top and blue bottoms as she sunbathed with friends including Croatian tennis player Iva Majoli on the Croatian Pakleni Islands.

And despite being out of the tennis circuit for nearly five years, the star still displayed an impressive slim and toned body as she stripped down for the beach.

The former Wimbledon semi-finalist was rushed to hospital in Florida at the end of June after being found in a 'dazed state' in a hotel room.

Two people called emergency services after they were unable to wake Capriati following what police sources said was as a night of 'partying'.

It's not exactly been an easy summer for Jennifer Capriati.

The former tennis ace was hospitalised after an 'accidental overdose' of prescription medication back in June.

But now, the 34-year-old former world number one looks well on the road to recovery as she holidayed with friends in Croatia.

Some reports claimed Capriati swallowed a handful of pills in an attempt to end her life.

A city official told the Palm Beach Post: 'My understanding is that she had fight with someone early in the morning and she emptied the pill bottle in her mouth.'

Her spokesman denied the claim, saying in a statement: 'In response to an outpouring of concern and support shown by Jennifer's fans and friends worldwide, we would like to acknowledge that Jen is recuperating at a South Florida hospital from an accidental overdose of medication prescribed to Jen by her personal physician.

'Jen is recovering fully and stably.'

Her ex-boyfriend Dale DaBone, 34, also told TMZ that Capriati was upset over his decision to return to the adult film industry.

Adult film actor DaBone, who dated Capriati from 2003-2009, told the website that he had spoken with Capriati and said she was 'hysterical' over his decision.

However, he said that while she was depressed over both her career and his, he did not believe she would try to kill herself.

Following her overdose, Capriati's friend Justin Gimelstob, himself a former tennis star, said she was finding it hard to find an identity outside the sport.

Capriati retired from tennis in 2005 due to shoulder and back injuries.

'She said tennis gives her the structure,' Gimelstob told The Early Show. ' Without that, that's when the problems ensue and she's had trouble finding an identity and a sense of purpose, especially when you're not able to finish on her own terms.

'She's in tremendous pain physically and mentally. She struggled with depression, and it's a tough story.'

Capriati had a glittering career as a teenage prodigy after bursting on to the tennis circuit aged 14.

She was hailed at future champion and had four successful years, including reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals in 1991 when she was 15-years-old.

But at the age of 18 she went off the rails with arrests for shoplifting and drugs.

After a spell in a Miami Beach drug rehab centre she relaunched her career and went on to win the Australian Open in 2002 by beating the world No 1 Martina Hingis.

Months later she won the French Open and went on to reach the Wimbledon semi finals.
