How To Access Taitung
By train: Taitung is on the main East Coast express route. The journey from Taipei takes about five and a half hours to seven and a half hours depends on the type of trains you take. From Kaohsiung to Taitung on the Southern route the trip takes from just over two hours to a little over three hours depending on the type train.
By plane: Taitung is serviced by a local airport with flights to Taipei and Kaohsiung.
Taitung Ethincs
Taitung County is home to seven aboriginal ethnics, including Bunun, Paiwan, Rukai, Amis, Beinan, Yamis, and Gamalan. Each tribe has its own unique culture; the diversity is the one and only in the nation as well as a rarity in the world. The high density and high diversity of indigenous population endows Taitung County with beverages richest resources.

1. Chu Lu Pasturage, Chu Lu Pasturage is a farm where they raise the cows. It was nice to have a walk in the farm. We also tasted the milk there. The milk from this farm is also famous in Taiwan. 2. Taitung Forest Park. Taitung Forest Park is a big green park close to the city. In the park, there are a big garden, two lakes and the hiking trial inside the woods. Besides the Forest Park, it is the beach and the Seashore Park. It is nice to have such a big park in the city.
3. Taitung Seashore Park. You can enjoy the sea view at this park. The park is close to the city. Many locals walk or jog in the park at their leisure time. There is also the bicycle lane here. You can ride the bicycle to go around.
4. Taitung Aboriginal Cultural Hotel. The hotel is decorated with the aboriginal cutural stuffs. They are very beautiful and unique. It is nice to visit this place even if you do not stay here. The twim room is about USD 30 to USD 40 in this hotel. It is not expensive but we did not stay here so we did not know how it felt to live here.
5. Guan Shan Waterside Park. Guan Shan waterside park is a big and beautiful park where you can enjoy the mountain view and the river view. People used to rent the bicycle outside the park and ride it in the park and around the whole town.
6. Shiau Yeh Liu. Shiau Yeh Liu is a coast with differnet kinds of the rocks. You can go down and sit on these rocks to see the waves.
7. Aboriginal Cultural Village. Aboriginal Cultural Village located in Majia Township has four areas. The welcome area includes managing center, dining service, cultural relic museum, and audio-visual hall etc. The Tamaluwan area and Wukuwan area introduce traditional buildings of nine tribes. Naluwan area includes some special displaying area like aboriginal song and dance show, Multi-media Theater, living pattern hall etc. There are traditional memorial ceremonies held regularly.
8. Beinan Cultural relic. Beinan Cultural relic is the sarcophagi and remnants excavated during the railroad project. It is the biggest and most intact prehistoric habitation of Taiwan. It belongs to the first class of ancient remains.
9. Cave of Eight Immortals. Cave of Eight Immortals was eroded by waves during the process of rising crust. There are temples and idols in the caves and pathways leading to each cave. Cave of Eight Immortals is a ancient remain of the Old Stone Age. It introduces prehistorically culture in the showplace.
10. Jiale-shui. Jiale-shui is located in the north-east side of Hengchun peninsula. It is famous for the scenery of special rocks eroded by waves and disintegration.
11. Jiben Forest Recreation Area. Jiben Forest Recreation Area is located at the middle reach of Jiben creek. You will meet a red suspension bridge at its entrance. The recreation area has botanical garden planting camphor woods, mahogany, pine trees, broad-leaved tree forest, etc. and the B.B.Q, & camp site, plants nursery, hotels, etc.; there are paths stretching to link these spots with one another. The clear creek, the emerald mountains, a variety of butterflies and birds and the pleasant climate are all attractions. It's certainly a worthwhile trip on holidays. The nearby Jiben Hot Spring is also a good spot to visit.
12. Liangshan Waterfall . Liangshan Waterfall is located in MajiaTownship. Water flowing down from rocks looks like silk. There are rocks with special shapes in the village. It is a nice place to swim and barbecue.
